eMail Opt-Out in Zoho

I have just updated Zoho with a new footer that explains to the recipient why they are getting your email, our email-communication policy, and an option for opting out of future emails.  The CAN-SPAM Act actually requires that we do this and I have been remiss in not getting this set up.

When somebody opts out you will no longer be able to email them via Zoho.  This is just as well as we don't want to be bothering people who don't wish to hear from us.   For each contact, there is a field in the top section (right column) called "email opt-out".  This is typically blank unless the contact has opted out.  In the case that the contact has opted out, there will be a check mark in that field.  Everything is automated.  If you try to email a person who has opted out, Zoho will not let you.

While you can over-ride this opt-out in Zoho, this should never be done without express permission of the contact.

This is the message that will appear in the footer of all your emails from now on:

You are receiving this email because you are an active member of the youth hockey community.   flexxCOACH takes communications with the youth hockey community very seriously. We strive to introduce insights and tools that will assist coaches, parents and players to elevate their love, knowledge and respect of the game. However, if you do not wish to receive future email communication from flexxCOACH, we will permanently remove you from our email lists.
